Professor Hiroaki Misawa is elected to be the First President of ANNA
Professor Misawa is the Director of Research
Institute for Electronic Science at Hokkaido University. He began his academic
career as assistant professor at Tsukuba University in 1985, which was after
obtaining his Undergraduate Degree (Engineering) at Tokyo Metropolitan
University, Postgraduate (Engineering) and Doctoral (Chemistry) Degrees at the
University of Tsukuba, and spending a Postdoctoral term at the University of
Texas at Dallas. Subsequently, he joined the Micro-photo-conversion project
(1988-1993) under the Exploratory Research for Advanced Technology (ERATO)
program of Japan Science & Technology Agency, first as a researcher and
then the group leader. He then moved in the Department of Engineering at the
University of Tokushima as Associate Professor in 1993, becoming full Professor
in 1995. In 2003, he moved in Hokkaido University as the Professor at Research
Institute for Electronic Science. He had obtained many National and
International Recognitions such as Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton International
Science Award in 1992, Japanese Photochemistry Association Award for 2005, the
Chemical Society of Japan Award for Creative Work in 2006, and was the leader
of programs such as Core Research for Evolutional Science and Technology
(CREST), New Energy and Industrial Development Organization (NEDO) and Core
Research for Industry Creation, and representative of Grant-in-Aid for
Scientific Research on Priority Area (MEXT) and Grant-in-Aid for Scientific
Research (S) (MEXT). His current research interests include nanomaterials
chemistry, nanotechnology, ultra-fast processes in materials, light-matter
interaction, photochemistry, photonic crystals, and plasmonics. He has authored
more than 400 research papers. He is also serving as the advisor of many
research projects and academic committees, and the deputy editor of the Journal
of Photochemistry and Photobiology C: Photochemistry Reviews (Elsevier).
While science and technology face difficult situation globally, economic
growths and social reforms revolutionize basic science and new technology in
this part of the world. In such a changing scenario of science and technology in
Asia, ANNA has experienced ground-breaking growth since its invention in 2010.
As an energetic, enthusiastic and experienced scholar, Professor Misawa will
help us to further the activities of ANNA and attract attention from every nook
and corner in Asia. The leadership of Professor Misawa will prepare us to
precisely coordinate academic activities and collective wisdom of an enormous
number of scholars emerging into the future of nanoscience and nanotechnology
arena in Asia. He will help us to look into the entire spectrum of scholars
involved in the nanoscience and nanotechnology areas and ensure that we are
filling their growing needs for cooperative interactions and exchange of
information.
Asian Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Association (ANNA) is established on 14/5/2010
Welcome to Asian Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Association (ANNA) and Academy of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ANN); blending of eminent scholars in Asia engaged in research and education of all aspects of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.
The Purpose of ANNA
Growing economies of Asian Countries position science and technology in Asia at the heart of an explosion, which is discernible from a considerable increase in the number of research institutions, dedicated researchers and quality research articles and patents. This situation stimulated us to coin "Asian Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Association". It is now high time to establish and tighten transnational cooperation among scholars in Asian countries for well-organized growth of science and technology.
ANNA is a nonprofit association registered in National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, a Government Organization under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan. ANNA is put together in association with a group of scholars in China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Republic of South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, etc. to keep pace with the growing needs for cooperative interactions among scholars in Asian countries. While working outside the scaffolds of public and private organizations, ANNA will ensure public service on all research and education matters within the scope of nanoscience and nanotechnology. It provides a common platform for the exchange of ideas among scientists, technologists, teachers, and students. Members of ANNA and ANN are committed to improve global life through the integration of emerging knowledge in the Nanoscience and Nanotechnology areas with life innovation technologies in Asian Countries.
Academy of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ANN) is affiliated with ANNA
